Battlestar Galactica on poikinut/poikimassa spinoffeja vanavedessään.

Spinoffeilla tarkoitetaan emosarjasta poikineita sarjoja, kuten esim. Stargate SG1 poiki aikanaan Stargate Atlantiksen ja Stargate Universen.

SyFy, eli aiemmin Sci-Fi Channelina tunnettu amerikkalainen kaapelitv-kanava on BSG:n jälkeen, tai itseasiassa jo samaan aikaan BSG:n viimeisten jaksojen kanssa, työstänyt spinoff-sarja Capricaa, jonka ensimmäinen kausi ei ole saanut kovin rohkaisevia arvioita. Nyt työn alla on Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome.

Mielenkiintoista, kerrassaan mielenkiintoista tosin onhan monesti niin, että spinoffit eivät pärjää alkuperäisille sarjoille alkuunkaan. Mutta ehkä joku löytää itselleen jotakin omaa myös "poikassarjoista".

Mitä uusimpaan Star Trek elokuvaan tulee, tykkäsin aivan hulluna! J.J. Abrams, joka ei siis aikaisemmin ole ohjannut Star Trek -elokuvia, ylittää kaikki odotukset, ennen kaikkea siksi, että elokuvasta henkii erittäin voimakkaasti Star Trek OS:n (original series) "kapinahenki". Aivan loistavaa!

Yeah, long time no blogging. Due to IRL = stuff in the real life has been quite overwhelming within the last month or so.

Which does not mean that I hadn't had the time at least to THINK about BSG and all that is gone: the finale was really intense and luckily I was able to see it in on peace. All the last three episodes in one peace. Including the fourth last episode which was good because it served as reminder of all that had been going on on season 4.

I watched the finale and cried. Just couldn't help myself. :)

I've rewatched it once since and still think it's very good - of course there are things that could've have been done differently but there always are. This finale summes up the essence of what BSG was and is: It's a story of a journey, not about finding the solution to something. Because sometimes the journey itself is the solution. As this finale turned out to be.

I'm especially happy that all the fancy space battles were cut to minimum. What there was was enough and very needful indeed for the storyline, but no more was needed.

So it really is over now. I so much hope that this series served as beginning for something else - for the growth and change of the scifi genre, and that in the future we will see more series like BSG was and is. Series made with heart and soul even though the commercial aspect will always be present. Just have to accept that we fans are part of that aspect and for our part also keep it up as long as we keep on being shippers of all this stuff.

Pitkästä aikaa bloggaamassa. BSG on ohitse, mikä ei tarkoita sitä etteivätkö ajatukset kääntyisi sarjan suuntaan hyvin usein. Hyvin tehty ja toteutettu tarina kolahtaa mieleen ja sydämeen, ja tämän paremmin tehtyä pakettia en ole koskaan nähnyt. Taru sormusten herrasta elokuvat ovat omaa luokkaansa, mutta koin ja edelleen koen asian siten, että Peter Jackson tiimeineen sössi tarinalinjan viimeisen päälle. Ensimmäinen elokuva toimi hyvin, minkä jälkeen homma lähti metsähallituksen puolelle.

BSG on toteutettu viimeisen päälle hyvin. Mistä osaltaan saa varmaan kiittää Hollywoodin syksyn 2007 käsikirjoittajien lakkoa: sarjan tekoon tuli silloin kolmen kuukauden tauko, jonka jälkeen käsikirjoittatiimi palasi tuotantoon keväällä 2008, istui yhdessä pitkiä päiviä käyden läpi kaiken jo olemassa olevan materiaalin. Jonka pohjalta syntyi neloskauden viimeiset 10 jaksoa. Mikäli tiimi ei olisi tätä tehnyt, ja neloskauden loppu olisi kuvattu yhteen putkeen, tarinasta olisi saattanut tulla hyvinkin erilainen. Kuka tietää.

Erityisen onnellinen olen siitä, että finaalin osalta kaikki ns. turhat avaruustaistelut on karsittu minimiin. Sarja noudattaa uskollisesti perusolemustaan, eli keskittyy kertomaan henkilöhahmojen tarinat. Tämä vain yksinkertaisesti tuntui oikealta ratkaisulta, vaikka kaikkien henkilöhahmojen osalta ei koskaan saada tietääkään mitä heille tapahtui. Lopullisia vastauksia ei tullut eikä tule. Tämäkin tuntuu itseasiassa aivan oikealta: ei aivan kaikkea tarvitse aina tietääkään.

Nyt on alkanut vaihe jossa ikävä alkaa helpottaa. Ja sarjaa alkaa jo katsoa erilaisin silmin kuin mitä sitä katsoi silloin kun piti vielä joka hemmetin viikko kärvistellä ja odotella seuraavaa jaksoa. Kun jännitys on lauennut ja tarina on niin sanotusti päättynyt, syntyy uusi tapa tarkastella asioita. Joka ei perustu jatkuvalle odotukselle ja halulle saada tietää mitä seuraavaksi tapahtuu. Tarinasta tulee jossakin määrin kokonaisempi.

Nyt odotan sitä, että pääsen vielä joskus katsomaan sarjaa alusta alkaen uudestaan. Mukavaa. :D

Saw the finale last week, couple of days after it came out. Had to do it like that, because I really didn't want to frak it up.

I liked it. I really really liked it. Have no time to write about it now, hopefully someday in the future.

In the real life I found myself in the editing bisnes. I was given a chance to edit something for a sort of a major event. So I'm sweating like a pig as I'm trying to build a decent audiovisual show. Thank the God's I have help. Because I really couldn't do this alone. That would be too much.

So - one thing comes to an end and another starts. I suppose that's how goes.

Life can be frakking amazing sometimes.

Don't have much to say about the last ep - Islanded in a stream of stars. Alan Sepinwall has summarised my feelings in his post quite thoroughly. Especially the fact that Eddie Olmos is a wizard behind the camera - the performances he got out of this cast was amazing. Especially of the little young lady who's playing Hera.

All in all there would a hell of a lot say about all this, and there's yet so many questions unanswered. I sincerely do hope we get most of the answers during the finale.

For my part I will leave it all to rest till I can watch the whole finale in one piece. I've had my share of the endless waiting between the episodes (= how does one define a week? The period of time that exists between the episodes of Battlestar Galactica. :D).

So I'm laying low for the next two weeks, avoiding all the fan sites the best I can, because this is THE ONE THING I DO NOT WANT to get spoilt about.

So see you after the finale - it has been one hell of a ride.

Jep jep. Kolme jaksoa jäljellä, ja koko hemmetin upea kyyti alkaa pikkuhiljaa olla ikuisiksi ajoiksi ohi.

Finaalin ensimmäinen osa tulee (tämän hetkisten tietojen mukaan) perjantaina 13. päivä (!), ja kaksi viimeistä osaa perjantaina 20. päivä. Jossakin oli ristiriitaisia tietoja koskien finaalin esitysaikoja, joten täytynee sen verran eri fanisivustoja seurata, että pysyy suunnilleen kärryillä aikatauluista.

Kaksi viimeistä jaksoa ovat mielestäni olleet omalla tavallaan todella upeita, niissä on annettu tilaa henkilöhahmoille ja tunnelman kuvaukselle, vaikka juonen tasolla ne eivät ehkä ole vieneet asioita niin paljon eteenpäin kuin fanikunta olisi toivonut. Fanien taholta onkin tullut esille paljon ristiriitaisten tunteiden ilmaisuja - jotkut ovat haltioissaan ja jotkut todella pettyneitä. Sitten on niitä, jotka häilyvät jossakin siinä välillä. En vielä oikein tiedä mihin porukkaan itse kuulun. Ehkäpä joihinkuihin sellaisiin, jotka ovat olleet joistakin menneistä jaksoista aivan raivona, ja nyt sitten purevat kynsiään koska toivovat että finaali ajaa kaiken kotiin.

Sen kyllä sanon, että en ole sarjan käsikirjoittajille kateellinen. Hirveät paineet saa niskaansa jos ja kun alkaa tehdä töitä scifi-fandomille. Puuh. Me fanit kun todella omistaudumme näille asioille. :D

Mutta omalta osaltani uskon ja luotan tuotantotiimiin edelleen - vaikkakin tiedän että Ronald D. Moore - joka mielestäni sössi pari edellistä jaksoa - onkin ollut finaalissa asiassa käsiksi. Täytyy vain yrittää uskoa. Ja vasta sitten jos tuntuu siltä että koko homma oli totaalinen pettymys, alkaa lähetellä "paskapostia" Los Angelesin suuntaan. :)

No joo. Vitsit vitseinä.

Se mikä ei ole vitsi, on tämä: skippaan tämän viikon jakson, koska haluan katsoa finaalin kaikki kolme jaksoa yhteen putkeen. Olen ihan varma, että ensi jaksossa on joku karsea cliff hanger, enkä oikeasti jaksa enää yhtään hermoja repivää odotusta. Mieluummin odotan kaksi viikkoa, ja nautin sitten kaikessa rauhassa kolmen jakson putkesta. Siinähän se viikonloppu sujuukin itkuvirsiä veisatessa. Ei tästä nimittäin itkemättä selvitä, siitä olen aivan varma.

Jep. Että se alkaa sitten olla siinä. Tunnelmaa voisi kuvatalla lähinnä adjektiivilla "epäuskoinen". En voi uskoa, että tämä todellakin on tässä. Että tämä kaikki päättyy nyt yhtäkkiä. Vaikka eihän tämä yhtäkkiä tule, loppu on ollut tiedossa jo vuoden päivät jos ei pidempäänkin. Mutta silti.

Kyllä tätä kaikkea kouhotusta tulee ikävä. Voi pojat.

NO SPOILERS!!!

Back online. BSG episode Someone to Watch Over Me was brilliant, and after feeling - well, quite frankly smashed after the two last episodes (No Exit, Deadlock) - it was absolutely marvellous to have the "Good Old Battlestar Galactica Feeling" back: from the beginning of this episode it was like "Oh My God's, here we go!!!"

If the last episodes are gonna be like this, the show is gonna have a marvellous ending. And I sincerely do hope that the show is gonna have an ending like this. Because I've been with the show from the beginning and despite my momentary doubts (concerning episodes 414, 417 and a little bit 418) I do have A LOT of faith towards the whole BSG crew. Not that any of this matters in any way, but still. (I'm just a fan grumbling my feelings into the virtual space and it doesn't have any real meaning for anything. Just venting out.)

My grumblings towards the last few episodes are mostly due because of the desicion to end the series to season 4: seeing episodes 417 & 418 made a lot of room for the feeling that maybe, just maybe, season 5 would have been in order. There was SO MUCH information about everything that I got this feeling of hurriedness. That feeling hasn't existed before this in the whole series and it just simply do not fit in.

I have absolutely no problems with the Final Fine (as a narrative solution), I think the idea about the Final Five works very well, especially after seeing this episode. My problem is and was the way it was delivered: thinking purely of the narrative structures (wether it's a book, a film or a tv-show) flashbacks are always a bit uncertain solutions. They have to be thought, build and delivered very strongly, surely so that they wont backfire. And especially during the ep 417 I had a very strong feeling that this is not working. Going back 18 months in time - on the narrative time level, man, that's a lot of timeline to cover in one episode. And the one thing I DO NOT want to see in this show is "The Dallas" effect: that in the last episode "the Pamela" of this show wakes up and realizes that she's just seen a bad dream. That the whole last season when she died and was dead, was just a bad dream.

But somehow I feel like a traitor for even thinking like this: this cast and crew has done SO MUCH work for all this, so I shouldn't even be thinking about anything like this. But I couldn't help it after seeing the episode 417. Just couldn't help it. And I know I'm not the only one. (Link goes to a discussion thread in Battlestar blog)

But but but - as I said, after seeing ep 419 Someone to watch over me was like phew!, they're gonna nail it, if they continue like this, they're definetely gonna nail it in the end!

And it was hell of a good feeling: twitching and itching in you seat like you're in an airplane which falling down and you've got absolutely no idea how it's gonna end. Absolutely no idea. And ladies and gents: That IS What BSG IS All About! Keeping you at the edge of your seat!

Oh and what comes to episodes 415 The Oath and 416 Blood on the Scales have to say that these are the best episodes in the whole series so far. They were just incredible. Everything played out: the writing, the acting and especially the music. Just one hell of an combination, which was mostly the reason why the eps 417 & 418 were like what the frak? What the frak is going on?

And also what comes to some people comments/complaints about "the characters not being what they used to be" - I think that's one the points in the whole show: this show is about people. And people change. Wanted or not. That's what's going on whith the characters also (me thinks): they've gone through a hell of a long journey and who wouldn't change after that? And thinking about this from the narrative point of view: this is where the show is making a difference in the tv-world. These characters come closer to the "real life/real people" than any of the characters in any other tv-shows. They're not static, they're not charicatures (how ever one spells that word) and they change. The characters are very very complex, like people are in the real life, and this is something that is quite hard to describe in a tv-show when the time in the air is limited. And BSG has delivered this anyway.

Jep. Neljä jaksoa sarjan loppuun. Fiilikset ovat hyvin sekalaiset, mutta täytyy sanoa että eilisen jakson jälkeen mennään taas parempaa kohti. Jakso 419 Someone to watch over me oli TODELLA hyvä jakso. Jos miettii mitä jaksossa loppujen lopuksi tapahtui, niin eihän siinä tapahtunut paljon mitään, mutta jollakin tasolla siinä tapahtui kuitenkin aivan helvetin paljon asioita.

Se mikä tässä on eniten ärsyttänyt - koko kauden, ja sitä kautta sarjan päättämisessä - on ollut tason vaihtelu. On todella vaikea ymmärtää sitä, kuinka jotkut jaksot voivat olla suunnilleen koko sarjan parhaita, ja jotkut taas suunnilleen koko sarjan huonoimpia.

Jotenkin väkisinkin mieleen on tullut sarjan päättämiseen liittyviä ajatuksia, jotka eivät ole juuri millään muotoa olleet positiivisia. Ja väkisinkin mielessä on käynyt myös se, että meitä katsojia - etenkin meitä faneja - on viety kuin pieniä sikoja teuraalle, pyydetty seuraamaan kyselemättä mitään, ja luottamaan siihen että "mitään pahaa ei tapahdu".

Omalla kohdallani voin sanoa, että tuo luottamus on järkkynyt muutamia kertoja vähän liiankin pahasti, mutta eilisen jakson nähtyäni on taas sellainen "epäilevän odottavainen" olotila, että ehkäpä tämä tästä.

Parempi olisi hitto vieköön. Enää neljä jaksoa jäljellä, joten ei tässä ole enää hirveästi varaa vinguttaa yhtään mitään kerronnallisella tasolla. Tai sitten on - BSG:n tuotantotiimin, etenkin käsikirjoittajatiimin - ja etenkin Ronald D. Mooren tuntien - jotakin isoa on vielä edessä. Joku aivan käsittämätön paukku on jätetty sarjan loppuun, jotakin joka puhaltaa ilmat keuhkoista pihalle. Ja toisaalta oikeastaan odotan sitä, koska koko sarjan ajan etenkin jokaisen kauden lopussa on käynyt jotakin tällaista. Joten jollakin tasolla ajateltuna olisi oikeastaan pettymys, jos sarja päättyisi johonkin "läpäläpälää" -systeemiin.

Joten ei muuta kuin kaasu pohjaan, ja täysillä tähtiä kohti! Jos eiliseen jaksoon voi perustaa yhtää mitään, kaikki merkit ainakin vaikuttavat suotuisilta!

Postasinko jo tämän? En usko. Vanhempia versioita kyllä, mutta tämä on nyt virallinen traileri.

Mary had been traveling all day, flying back from Europe. We thought she’d be wasted, but she was still on London Time or something and she just rocked everybody’s headsets off.  Everyone was clapping after the take, going wild."

Battlestar Blogissa on käyty keskustelua (viimeksi kun katsoin kommentteja oli kertynyt 311) aiheesta ”it is all Roslin's fault. Never put a bloody school teacher in charge of anything...”. Keskustelu on muuten kiinnostava, mutta hyvin monesta kommentista käy ilmi kuinka sarjaa ajatellaan ja siihen suhtaudutaan ”totena”. Se, että kaikki tämä on jonkun – alkulähtökohdiltaan pääasiassa käsikirjoitustiimin – tuotetta, jää liian usein kommenteissa huomioimatta. Tästä huolimatta keskustelussa oli muutamia kiinnostavia pointteja, jotka herättivät ajatuksia. Nämä ajatuksen liittyivät paljolti Laura Roslinin henkilöhahmoon, minkä vuoksi päätin kirjoittaa aiheeseen liittyvän pidemmän postauksen.

POTENTIAL SPOILERS REGARDING BSG SEASON 4 IN THE LINK UNDER THE CUT!

Yes. This post is about ”it is all Roslin's fault. Never put a bloody school teacher in charge of anything...”, a comment which has created a very interesting discussion thread on Battlestar Blog.

I wrote quite lengthy post in Finnish about Roslin’s character. About how her character represents and combines so many complex levels (of humanity) and how it deals with being a strong woman leader and above all – power. The core structure of Roslin’s character is power: what does it take to be a woman in power and a powerful leader among other strong leaders, especially Bill Adama.

I also wrote about the wonderful scifi (BSG!) fandom: the discussion thread has been absolutely grand to read because what we have here is a stereotypical provoker who’s just trying frak everyone up with his comments. (Hellou – writing something like that in BSG community? That’s like declaring a war.) The most wonderful thing was that nobody gives a frak. This guy can say what he wants and basically everyone just ignores him – because it’s so obvious what he’s doing. Nobody starts screaming at him or goes apeshit or in general – give a frak. Instead what we get is an actual conversation about Laura Roslin’s character, people sharing their views about this strong and sometimes even controversial character. Way to go! An ass tries to start a fight and he gets it all thrown into his face. Love it! Love the fandom! :D

Well. If Adama had killed Roslin in the miniseries or in the beginning of the series, we wouldn’t have the the series, would we? It’s kind of obvious. Because Roslin has been one of the central characters from the beginning and will be till the bitter sweet end. And the development of her character is in the heart of the scifi genre itself: it’s about breaking boundaries, breaking norms and stereotypes and showing different perspectives on and of the society to the readers/viewers of the genre. Representing individual dealing with different kinds of pressures in different kinds of situations of life.

Laura Roslin is a very interesting and complex character and it has been absolutely amazing to see how she has developed, evolved and changed during the past seasons. A very strong woman in the heart of everything, taking care of everything and walking a very difficult path. Like the rest of the characters (but my focus here is only on Roslin) and like the show itself.

Laura is a goddess of war who probably didn’t realize this herself (at least so very clearly) before she became the president of the Colonies and had to deal with all the difficult issues. But this has become quite clear during the show.

I’m very happy to have seen her character evolve and very exited to see what she is to become before the end. A strong leader in love? Can she preserve her human emotions within all the struggles that lie ahead? Can she preserve her humanity? I do believe she can. Because she has what it takes.

Frak! I really want to see this! Four frakking days till Friday!!!

Allright. NO SPOILERS!

The Oath was brilliant. It was like "getting back the good old Battlestar Galactica, which saves the crappy day when you come back home from work". A combination of hell of a good writing, directing and acting.

Actually I had difficulties staying on my seat which says it all: this is what I remember when watching the show for the first times - during season 1 & 2 I always had difficulties staying in my seat. And I was shouting and screaming too when things got rough and tough.

This is what the show is all about: you forget your own reality for 43 minutes and just let it take you with it. Just forget about it all and let go, "follow the yellow brick road".

After the disappointment of the last weeks episode the relief of seeing that the show is back on it's usual (high) level was enormous. And I do believe that's it's gonna stay there. Except when looking at the titles and their writers/directors can't help feeling small doubts about the end. If RDM wrote and directed 414, how's 421-423 going to work? Can't help thinking about this because 414 just didn't work for me. And I am very amazed about this because so far I have liked (and admired) RDM's work through the years with Star Trek and other shows. So it is amazing that one episode casts all this doubt over the things to come (can't help it), even though it's RDM of all people who can do this. And who SHOULD do this, tell theend of the saga.

The Oath turned the show to a new direction - again. Ok, after seeing last weeks ep it was quite clear what's ahead. Now we'll just have to see how far this goes. Looking at the names of the episodes (far below) this seems to go pretty far.

I'll say this: if brother Cavil and his acolytes jump in now, the Fleet is screwed.

And about A/R: oh man, it was great. Adama is like a knight from the old tales, riding to war and trying to keep his Ladylove safe (and the way he delt with the marines in the corridor, whew! The Old Man's got some chops!). The ending of the episode was just great, even though it pisses me off every time to see the words "to be continued...". Still. This is definetely worth the wait.

No niin, no niin. Täällä sitä ollaan: tyytyväisinä viikonlopun BSG-saldosta. Jos tätä tahtia jatketaan loppuun asti, tyytyväisenä pysynkin. Jakso 415 The Oath oli LOISTAVA!! Viime viikon jakson jälkeinen pettymys on kuitattu kerralla pois, koska nyt todellakin kävi selväksi, että jakso 414 oli lähinnä välijakso: jakson 413 jälkipyykin pesua, ja valmistelua tulevaa varten.

Nyt koko homma lähti aivan uuteen suuntaan, ja mielenkiinnolla kyllä odotan kuinka kaikki tämä päättyy. Tästä jaksosta voisi pitää palopuheen, mutta en halua sitä tehdä että en spoilaisi jaksoa keneltäkään. Oli odottamisen arvoista, suosittelen!

Sen voi kyllä sanoa, että Ukko Adama Rocks! Jumankauta! Vanhalla ukolla on ytyä ja asennetta monen nuorempansa edestä ja verran. Hehee! Jaksosta tuli mieleen "vanhat kunnon ritariromanssit", jossa ritari antaa vaikka henkensä rakastamansa neidon puolesta. Oikein romanttista. :D

Sen voi myös sanoa, että jos veli Cavil seurakuntineen hyppää kaiken tämän sekaan, tämä laivasto on kusessa.

Jakson jälkeen oli pakko kaivaa esille muistutusta siitä, kuinka kausi tulee jatkumaan. Alla neloskauden jaksojen, sekä niiden kirjoittajien ja ohjaajien nimet. Jaksojen nimistä päätellen kausi tulee jatkumaan kuumana. Jos seuraavan jakson nimi on Blood on the scales, ei touhu voi kovin hempeää olla.

VOI POJAT! Näin sitä pitää! Olen niin ylpeä ja iloinen siitä, että tämä kaikki on "totta", ja että tämä tapahtuu oikeasti. Ja että nämä ihmiset ovat saaneet mahdollisuuden tehdä tämän kaiken. Käsikirjoittajien lakko melkein sotki kaiken, mutta onneksi siitä päästiin ylitse.

I'm keeping a low profile till the end of BSG season 4.5.

Meaning I wan't to avoid all the possible spoilers. I'm still pissed about the fact that I got spoilt for episoder 410 Revelations - of the ending. The feeling was absolutely devastating. And I DO NOT WANT it to happen again.

So I keep reading the Battlestar blog because it's a spoiler free community, and also occasionally Galactica Sitrep. Occasionally because they've got lots of spoilery posts (mostly videos or links that lead to spoilers).

After the season is over I'll start ranting about the series but not before.

I'll try to post something on every episode of season 4.5 but we'll see how it goes. Anyway - no spoilers!

(I do not concider it very spoilery if I tell that someone was standing in a hallway hands in his pockets, or that a certain couple ended up in the same bed after many years of waiting - everybody has seen this coming: concidering the structure of the plot and the narrative these are not so relevant issues).

Oukay.

This was the first BSG episode in ages I didn't like. I had really high expectations about this episode - because it was written and directed by The Man, Ronald D. Moore.

But it just didn't work for me. I've tried to put my finger on it and the best explanation so far is "that it didn't get started". For the whole episode I was waiting when does it actually starts but it just didn't.

The narrative structure was good but it wasn't the normal BSG level we've been used to during these years. Something was missing: the edge that has lifted the show to the very high levels it's been till now. And I think it's because of those high levels the disappointment after seeing this episode was so strong.

Of course the A/R thing was great. I'm a shipper so of course I loved it. The ending was a slightly weird because I didn't expect them to go so far so soon, but then again this has been coming for four years, so I don't think I can talk about "too soon". ;)

The scene where Adama was standing in the hallway his hands in his pockets was awsome. The way it was shot was brilliant - the angle of the scene showed him "larger than life", like he's a mountain which is hovering over all the lives of the people in the fleet. Especially over Roslin's life. And the expression in his face - the mixture of love, tenderness, despair, hopelesness and hope was really something. So was the discussion these two had. All I can say is "whew!": EJO and Mary McDonnell are really amazing!

And yes - I've never liked Gaeta so I hated him in this episode. But I understand why he is the guy who's doing this: all his experiences in the past put him on the side of the opposition. So in this sense I think the writing and the narrative in this episode worked just fine.

So we shall see how it goes from here. I have really high hopes for the series and man I will be SO disappointed if the rest of season 4.5 will be like this.

Michael J. Straczynski - the creator/producer of Babylon5 - said "Faith manages". It was written in the ending titles of the last episode of B5 on season 4 as a reminder to all those people who "predicted that the Babylon project will fail".

I'm hanging on to that thought. Faith has brought us so far (all of us scifi and BSG fans) and I believe we will get further and the series will get the kind of ending it deserves.

EI SPOILEREITA!

Jep. Ensimmäinen BSG-jakso aikoihin, josta en tykännyt. Yritin tuossa yllä selittää mikä asiassa mätti, mutta en oikeastaan pysty täsmentämään. Kyseessä on monien asioiden summa: henkilöhahmot joista en pidä tekevät asioita joista en pidä, käsikirjoitus mättää ja sarjan yleinen taso ei pysy yhtä korkealla kuin aikaisemmin.

Joten jakso oli pettymys.

Toisaalta tämä tekee ehkä ihan hyvää, koska on hyvä muistaa että tyypit jotka sarjaa tekevät, eivät ole jumalia eivätkä todellakaan täydellisiä siinä mitä tekevät. He ovat antaneet sarjalle kaikkensa ja tähän mennessä tehneet todella hienoa työtä, mutta ei se näemmä aina tarkoita sitä, että joka kerta onnistutaan 150%.

Saa nähdä kuinka homma etenee tästä eteenpäin. Toivotaan parasta ja pelätään pahinta!

The video is otherwise great but it ends in the middle of the sentence. A bit furiating - I saw it before part 2 was posted in YouTube, so I already forgot what Mary was talking about when I saw the second part.

I think the closing was really nice, especially Michelle Forbes (Adm. Helena Cain in BSG) hugging Mary so spontaniously, and the fact that Mary was so touched by the whole con (= the fans) that she actually started to cry.
